The holiday cottage is set in the village of Nant Peris at the foot of Snowdon (often called Mount Snowdon) in the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage is about 2 miles up the valley from the village of Llanberis from where the Snowdon Mountain Railway starts it's journey to the summit of Snowdon.

Being in Wales, you are never far from a castle. Dolbadarn Castle built by the Welsh princes, is just down the road from the cottage, and the impressive Caernarfon Castle built by Edward II is nearby. There are also castles at Criccieth, Beaumaris, Harlech and Conwy within easy reach.

There are many steam railways to experience. The Snowdon Mountain Railway, runs to the peak of Snowdon from just down the valley at Llanberis. The Ffestiniog Railway runs from Blaenau Ffestiniog down to Porthmadog were it now connects with the Welsh Highland Railway that runs from Caernarfon to Porthmadog via Beddgelert.

There are numerous other tourist attractions in this part of North Wales that you can visit during your stay. See the attractions map above for more information about local attractions.

There are many activities that can be enjoyed during your stay in the holiday cottage including walking and climbing. You can walk up Snowdon starting from outside the door, so you don't need to take the car. You can do a one-way walk, and then take the Snowdon Sherpa bus that runs around the base of Snowdon in the summer and passes the cottage. The cliffs in valley above the village are favourites with rock climbers.

There are mountain bike trails locally, with bike storage facilities at the cottage. Other activities including bird watching, fishing and watersports are also catered for in the area.

If you fancy a day on the beach, the beaches of Dinas Dinlle, Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula are all within easy reach.

Nant Peris is a small village at the foot of Snowdon with a pub (Vaynol Arms) where you can have an evening meal, or enjoy a pint and a chat. The village of Llanberis is 2 miles down the valley, and has numerous places to eat and interesting shops to explore. There are many attractions in Llanberis including Ropeworks, and the National Slate Museum. Caernarfon has a large selection of shops including supermarkets (Tesco and Morrisons).

There is a Farmer's Market in Llanberis on the first Friday of the month where you can buy quality local fresh produce.
